What are some standard features of four-star hotels?

Samantha Mckinney

When you think of luxury hotels, you probably think of four or five-star hotels. Four star hotels are among the top-rated hotels, providing upscale features and unique amenities you can't get in hotels with lower ratings. While they don't provide quite as much as a five-star hotels, they are still very impressive. Here are some things you can expect in a four-star hotel.

High-Quality Furnishings

The furnishings in four-star hotels are a level above three-star hotels in that they offer a wide range of firm and soft pillows, triple-sheeted beds, and plush bedding. There are often expensive sheets made of Egyptian cotton with high thread counts. The comforter is often a luxurious down instead of a standard hotel bedspread. Don't be surprised if the mattresses are among the most comfortable you have ever been on, as they often provide double pillowtop beds.

Fine Dining and Bars

Four-star hotels also have better dining than what you can get in other hotels. While lower-rated hotels might have an on-site restaurant or coffee shop, the four-star hotels usually provide multiple restaurants and bars. It is not uncommon to have a choice for your meals, choosing between a fine dining restaurant or casual restaurant. Many of them have multiple bars as well, such as a restaurant and bar, poolside bar, and rooftop bar. These hotels also frequently have mini bars and room service provided.

Upscale Location

The location itself can also be different with four-star hotels. The geographic location often determines what neighborhood a four-star hotel will be located in. In cities, they are often right in the heart of downtown, offering excellent views and incredible convenience. Four-star hotels often have a view of the nearby lake, river, or ocean. They might also have a view of the mountains or hillside. Four-star hotels are often close to theme parks or other big attractions in the area.

Extra In-Room Amenities

Your four-star hotel room will have amenities that don't usually come with lower-rated hotels. For example, this type of room often has an extra-large bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub. The bathtub is often oversized, with hot tub jets or enough room for two people. Bathrooms often include granite or marble countertops and floors. The room itself will provide more room, along with amenities like a high-end coffee maker instead of a standard one. Having a private balcony and amazing view is common with these hotels.

Advanced On-Site Features

Four-star hotels typically have concierge service and valet parking. They have full-sized fitness centers, spas or salons, and gift shops. While many hotels have swimming pools, there are often multiple pools that provide additional services, such as private cabanas for people looking for more privacy or to read a book next to the pool.
